With 16 international food production companies and their 9 international R&D centers, we form a strong ecosystem of advanced manufacturing, technical services, packaging industries, and logistics partners – directly connected to the Port of Amsterdam.

Zaan Food Makers is committed to strengthening the Zaan region’s food industry through innovation, sustainability, and talent development. In partnership with education, government, and industry, we focus on three strategic themes that define the future of global food manufacturing.
Less fossil
We are accelerating the shift to clean energy and smarter processes. This includes investing in electrification, green hydrogen, process optimization, and a regional energy infrastructure built to support long-term industrial development.
Learning by working
We strengthen talent entry, career development, and professional growth. In collaboration with regional education partners, we connect on-the-job experience with new technological skills – from AI and digitalization to emerging process technologies, ensuring employees grow with the industry.
Space for innovation and growth
We work to create the physical, logistical, and technological space companies need to innovate. Together with government, partners, and residents we look for ways to connect liveability, economic activity, and innovation – helping the region grow sustainably while remaining an attractive place to live and work.
